Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No.7 and works by Beethoven, Gershwin and Debussy.
Having had his work praised by Vladimir Ashkenazy at an early age for a performance of Prokofiev’s fifth piano concerto, Christopher Ellis has made his name for his precise mastery of the piano repertoire, ‘breath-taking’ performances and ‘unbelievable technical skill’. Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music with honours, Christopher has engaged audiences across Europe with his ‘amazing’ performances and respect and passion for the piano repertoire.
At 15, Christopher made his Royal Festival Hall début performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Ernest Reid Symphony Orchestra. More recently, he has performed the great concertos of Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Grieg and Rachmaninov, all of which have been received with great enthusiasm by capacity audiences. Christopher’s competition successes include “Les Recontres Internationals des Jeunes Pianistes”, the Musica Aeterna International Competition and the Royal Overseas League.
Currently based in Stockport, Christopher continues to maintain a busy performing schedule across the UK and beyond. We are delighted to welcome him here, to Tideswell Arts Festival for a concert featuring a wide range of his repertoire.
